Now, admirers have found a clip of the day their engagement was announced, where they spotted Kate apparently 'shaking' as she faced the media.
A user on X (previously known as Twitter) said: "Does anyone have a longer version of this video? i believe william had to help catherine bc her hand was shaking," they inquired.
Another took to the platform to explain the "back story" through a series of related posts. "Catherine was shaking so bad they could not get a good photo of the ring so William held her hand," stated one update, to which another replied: "The poor girl (she was so young back then)." Discussing their engagement with ITV at the time, the Prince of Wales said: "We had a little private time away together with some friends and I just decided that it was the right time really." "We'd been talking about marriage for a while, so it wasn't a massively big surprise, but I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya and proposed," he said. "It was very romantic," Kate enthused. The interviewer probed: "And you said yes, obviously?" to which Kate responded: "Of course, yes." She then added: "We were out there with friends and things, so I really didn't expect it at all," referring to the event as a "total shock." Kate was given Princess Diana's iconic engagement ring, to mark the occasion, which features a large sapphire set amongst diamonds.
