As besotted new mum Kate Meakin feeds her baby daughter, Autumn, with big brother, Austin, looking on adoringly, she loves every minute as a family of four.
But rewind two years and Kate feared she’d be left a widow at 37 bringing up their little boy alone, after their world fell apart when husband Phil was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Determined not to give up their dream of expanding their family, just three days after Phil’s diagnosis, he had his sperm frozen before starting chemotherapy.
And that act of hope in the most devastating week of the couple’s life resulted in daughter Autumn - their “light at the end of the tunnel” – born on October 23, 2020.
