On the track’s verse, she sings about a relationship gone bad: Although she doesn’t name anyone directly, one autobiographical detail on the bridge indicates that the song is inspired by her relationship with Hemsworth: Cyrus and Hemsworth met on the set of the 2010 Nicholas Sparks film, The Last Song.
According to IMDB, the movie filmed between June and August of 2009, when Cyrus was 17 years old. The song’s lyrics also tie into the cover art, when Cyrus sings: The former teen star has spoken about drinking and drug use in the past, most notably in a 2017 Billboard cover story. “I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now!
That was just something that I wanted to do,” she said at the time. Miley Cyrus dropped her latest EP, She is Coming, back in May.
