Aberdeen manager Jim Jim Goodwin says now is the right time for Mikey Devlin and the Dons to part ways as his contract is terminated.
The centre-back has had an awful time with injury recently and has made just one Premiership appearance over the last two seasons.Devlin has had the full support of Aberdeen through this period but new boss Goodwin has made a tough decision on his future.
It's the third big call on players during the former St Mirren boss' reign so far, having already axed experienced pros Scott Brown and Andy Considine.
A former teammate of his at Hamilton, Goodwin said of Devlin: “I’ve known Mikey a long time, having both been at Hamilton Accies a number of years ago."He’s a great lad but has unfortunately had a horrendous time with injuries.
