Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.

Mike Tyson may have an unlikely connection to Tiger King star Joe Exotic. The boxing champ, 54, once owned three Bengal tigers - Kenya, Storm, and Boris - as pets roaming his Las Vegas mansion in the 1990s.

Joe rocketed to fame on Tiger King while in jail after he was found guilty of a murder for hire plot against his rival Carol Baskin.

Before then, the zoo operator cemented his status in the exotic world as a breeder of tigers in the US. But Mike didn't mind telling fans his former tigers could have come indirectly from the jailed TV star in recent months.

Having become a big fan of the Netflix series in lockdown, he admitted the thought Joe could have supplied him with the tigers crossed his mind.
