Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has revealed he is a fan of the 3-4-3 formation but believes that 4-3-3 is best suited to the current squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used a wide variety of formations over the course of the season - using a 3-5-2 system at times with Luke Shaw filling in at centre-back but mainly operating in a 4-3-3.

Following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, United shifted to a diamond in midfield, with the Portuguese in an attacking role supported by Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic.
