Michelle Heaton has taken to social media to share a heart-wrenching video from the darkest days of her battle with alcoholism.

The 44 year old former Liberty X star, who has been on the wagon for over three years following a stark warning from doctors in 2020 about her failing liver and being "close to death", marked Alcohol Awareness Week by posting an old clip.

The footage, which she found while reflecting on her journey, captures a solitary Michelle unwrapping birthday gifts. Opening up to her Instagram fans, Michelle revealed the personal struggle behind the video, shot on her 41st birthday as she approaches her 45th: "I share this video with a heavy heart," she wrote, "I am now 3 years and 2 months sober.
