Michael Wardrope has completed a shock move from Irvine Meadow to Auchinleck Talbot. The West of Scotland League Premier Division rivals struck a deal for the 25-year-old midfielder after Talbot had an initial offer knocked back last week.Meadow say they were left with no option after Wardrope - the club's top goalscorer - made it clear he saw his future at Beechwood Park. The player's departure is a massive blow for Meadow at a key time of the season as they look to secure their top flight status.Meadow chairman Robert Jeffrey today explained the club's decision to sanction the transfer.
He told Ayrshire Football News: " The club can confirm Michael has been transferred to Auchinleck. "A few clubs have expressed an interest in Michael but Auchinleck made initial contact last week and made an offer that the club rejected."After speaking to the player at the weekend he advised he wanted to leave with Talbot his only option."The club reluctantly agreed to put him on the transfer list, Talbot enquired again and a fee was agreed for the player."Irvine Meadow did not want to sell Michael but when he expressed his desire to leave then the club was left with no other option."This is an important time of the season for Meadow and we ask all fans to get behind the team as they try to secure a place in the West of Scotland Premier Division."Jeffrey added: "The club will look to bring in a replacement but it could be very difficult to do that at this time of the season."Don't miss the latest Ayrshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
