Michael Owen's daughter Gemma says dad's career made her 'competitive' ahead of Love Island

Michael Owen's daughter Gemma Owen has opened up on the influence her dad's incredibly successful football career has had as she admitted she's got a competitive nature ahead of entering this year's Love Island.

Following rumours the fashion designer, who set up her own bikini brand this year, would be the celebrity contestant entering the Spanish villa for the latest series, 19 year old Gemma has been confirmed to be one of the sizzling new Islanders.The stunning brunette, who is former Liverpool striker Michael's eldest child of four and left former Islanders Brad and Aaron swooning, told how sport has always been a "big thing" for her and her family as she shared her excitement for the experience.

What's more, Gemma has always been massively into equestrian sports herself, having competed in dressage in the Olympics for Great Britain since she was only 11. "I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions," the star shared in a new ITV2 interview. "I would say I’m very competitive.

Despite revealing her shrewd nature, Gemma went on to insist that she won't intentionally set out to sabotage an already-established couple. "But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection," the star said.
