Michael Flatley has revealed he has been diagnosed with an 'aggressive' form of cancer, in a statement shared to his social media accounts tonight.According to the release, the Riverdance star, 64, has undergone surgery and is currently being cared for by a team of doctors in hospital.The statement shared to Flatley's Instagram page, reads: 'Dear friends, we have something personal to share, Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.'He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors.

It is believed that the Lord Of The Dance star was diagnosed before Christmas with an unspecified type of cancer. It is understood that Michael is currently recuperating from the surgery with his wife, Niamh, and son, Michael Jnr.It is unknown if the diagnosis is linked to his previously battle with skin cancer.Michael was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma in 2003.
