Michael Edwards has shared why he decided to come back to Liverpool over a potential move to Manchester Utd and reveals that the "desire and persistence" from the Fenway Sports Group made him want to return.Edwards played a huge role in the Anfield's transfer drive before he left his job as sporting director nearly two years ago.

Now, the club's owners have convinced him to come back in a new role, with manager Jurgen Klopp set to leave at the end of the season.The 44-year-old's new job has been him be named as FSG's chief executive of football.

Edwards initially knocked back the chance to come back to the club but has now detailed just why he changed his mind and accepted the offer.

He said: "I am very grateful to Mike [Gordon], John [Henry], Tom [Werner] and the ownership group for offering me the opportunity to take on this new leadership role within FSG.
