Michael Carrick says Manchester United have an idea of where Donny van de Beek could establish himself in the team but also praised the Dutchman's flexibility.
Van de Beek excelled as a second-half substitute at Watford last week, scoring his first goal in over a year from a deep-lying role and emerging as the sole positive from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's last match in charge of United.
The 24-year-old was named in the starting XI for Carrick's first match as manager against Villarreal at the expense of playmaker Bruno Fernandes but Van de Beek was substituted for the Portuguese with the game goalless and United went on to win 2-0.
