Michael Ball was seen praising Captain Tom Moore for ‘making history’ after it was confirmed their charity single has soared to the top of the charts and landed the number one spot.

The singer, 57, teamed up with the Second World War veteran and NHS Voices Of Care Choir for their rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone and on Friday it was revealed the single had debuted at number on one the UK’s Official Singles Chart.

Their chart success came just in time for the 99-year-old Captain’s 100th birthday, as Captain Tom, who has already raised over £28million for the NHS during the coronavirus crisis, is set to turn 100 years old on 30 April.
