Thomas the Tank Engine star Michael Angelis has died. Michael was a long-time narrator on TV series Thomas & Friends. He died at his home on Saturday, his agent confirmed.

He was 76. Michael, who was born in Liverpool, was the narrator on the popular children's show from 1991 to 2012. He also worked on many other products and media related to the hit franchise.

Michael was also known for his roles in comedies The Liver Birds and Luv, and TV drama series Boys from the Blackstuff. Michael also played the villain in series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, starring alongside his Blackstuff co-star Alan Igbon.

Michael, who was married to Coronation Street star Helen Worth ftom 1991 to 2001, also appeared in a string of films during his career.
