The Metropolitan Police will reinvestigate the lead-up to the decision to charge late TV presenter Caroline Flack as “new witness evidence may be available”, the force said.
Christine Flack, Caroline's mother, has been seeking answers for four years regarding the decision to charge her daughter with assaulting her boyfriend, despite initial advice from prosecutors.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has now directed the Metropolitan Police to revisit their investigation, focusing on an officer present at Caroline's 2019 arrest, which occurred shortly before she took her own life.
This officer had reportedly played a role in challenging the Crown Prosecution Service's (CPS) suggestion to issue Caroline with just a caution for the incident involving Lewis Burton.
