Metrolink passengers have been warned to expect major disruption following damage to an overhead line tonight (July 11). The damage is said to have occurred between the Trafford Bar and Old Trafford stations. "Engineers are currently on site, and a number of service changes are in place," a spokesperson for Metrolink told the Manchester Evening News.

It means there is currently no service on the Altrincham line and there are changes to services on between: Eccles to MediaCityUK; Trafford Centre to Warf Side; Manchester Airport and East Didsbury to Firswood. The disruption will hit people heading out of Manchester following a busy Friday night in the city centre. The spokesman added that 'there is a chance there will be an impact to services in the morning' and passengers are encouraged to check before they travel.

Even before tonight's disruption, no trams were operating between Rochdale town centre and Oldham Mumps due to a landslip. Tickets and passes can be used on these buses: 18, 19, 243, 263, 281, 285, 286, 250, X50, 171, 172, 85, 86, 29, 33, 50,53, 79.
