Brits flocked to beaches and parks last week as the UK sizzled in a heatwave that brought scorching temperatures above 30C. But many parts of the country saw the week-long sunny spell end with torrential rain, thunderstorms and flooding over the weekend - with 41.6mm of rain falling in St James's Park in London on Sunday.
However, sunseekers may be waiting a while for the next spell of summer heat, the Met Office has said. It comes after the Met Office issued its first-ever extreme heat warning last week for parts of the UK when the mercury soared above 30C.
And Northern Ireland also recorded its hottest day ever on Saturday, as the UK's topsy turvy weather continues to be as unpredictable as ever.
