A thunderstorm warning has been issued by the Met Office which covers a huge part of the UK this weekend. The 10-hour warning comes into place at midday on Sunday and will remain in force until 10pm.
The yellow Met Office warning covers large parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland with the potential that downpours could lead to disruption in these areas places, especially to travel.
Isolated property flooding is possible. The warning in Northern Ireland is only in place from 11am to 7pm. READ MORE: Met Office issues 10-hour thunderstorm warning for Greater Manchester The alert says that many areas will miss the heaviest downpours - but that some places could see 30-40mm of rain in the space of an hour or two, possibly accompanied by some hail.
Ahead of the storm people were also advised to ensure moveable objects or temporary structures are well secured, such as bins or garden furniture, in case of gusts; check road conditions before travelling; have torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items, in case of power cuts.
