Met Office issues thunderstorm warning TODAY for parts of Greater Manchester

The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning for today - including for parts of Greater Manchester. The yellow weather warning will come into force at 11am this morning (Saturday) as heavy downpours are set to hit much of the north of England and Scotland.

In Greater Manchester, the worst of the rain is expected in Oldham, Bolton, Bury and Rochdale. The thunderstorm warning will last until 10pm tonight.

It also covers much of Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire, the North East of England and Scotland. The downpours are likely to lead to difficult driving conditions, with problems on the roads and on buses likely. Forecasters said 'some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible' and there may also be delays to train services.
