Met Office issues snow update for Scotland as wintry weather to hit this week

Scotland could see more snow as early as tomorrow as wintry weather continues across parts of the country. Snow will fall in areas across Scotland from Wednesday morning, according to the Met Office.Ground 200m above sea level will see flurries of the white stuff with lower levels also forecasted for snow, sleet and hail as blustery showers move in.It will feel chilly with average temperatures at around 5C to 7C throughout Scotland, according to the Met Office.This is due to cold but bright air that follows a weather front impacting the country throughout Tuesday.There will be some sunshine for eastern areas but damp conditions for north and easterly parts, the Met Office reports.Gales will also batter the far north-west with the snow level coming down to around 300 metres - meaning that the white stuff will fall on higher grounds.

As we reach Wednesday evening there is risk of gales or even severe gales in the far north - particularly in Orkney and Shetland, according to the Met Office.Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: "It turns a bit colder for Scotland first things Wednesday and that means the snow level coming down."Accumulating snow during the day above 200 metres."Perhaps some sleet, snow, hail down to lower levels in these blustery showers and strong winds making it feel particularly cold."On Wednesday night, the Met Office explains that an area of low pressure brings with it windy conditions as well as some fairly lively showers across the north of Scotland.On Thursday we will enjoy some clearer, settled conditions but temperatures will be just below average for the time of year at 1-4C.High pressure begins to build in during Thursday night and into Friday causing temperatures to drop.Wide spread
