The Met Office has issued a rare red weather warning for parts of the North as Storm Arwen hits. Snow is set to fall across some areas of Greater Manchester tonight as temperatures plunge.
The red 'danger to life' warning for the North East coast - from Newcastle to beyond Aberdeen - is in force from 3pm today until 2am Saturday. Police have warned the public to not travel in red warning areas. Similar caution has also been given for yellow and amber warning areas.
