Met Office issue amber weather warning as heavy rain expected in the Lake District

Heavy rain is set to hit the Lake District in the next couple of days, which will come as a blow for those who opted for a staycation this half term.

The Met Office has issued amber and yellow weather warnings for rain across Cumbria and in parts of southern Scotland. An amber warning is in place for the Lake District from 3pm on Wednesday until midnight on Thursday, with ‘persistent and heavy rain’ expected - which could lead to flooding and disruption to travel.
