Mesut Ozil has refused to join Arsenal’s players in taking a 12.5 per cent pay cut. Ozil, who is the club’s highest earner on £350,000-a-week, has made it clear he may be willing to do it in the future but wanted to see the full financial impact of the coronavirus and did not want to rush into a decision.
It is understood that Ozil is one of three players in the first team squad not to accept the pay cut. Ozil has made it clear he respects the other players and the group decision - but has urged them to respect his.
