Chairman of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Association, West of Scotland branch, Paddy Devlin, decided to see if they could have a memorial at Hawkhead Cemetery to remember their fallen comrades. He started the process a number of years ago but everything stopped because of covid.Paddy said: “Because the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders are no more, they have been swallowed up by the Royal Regiment of Scotland, I thought it would be nice to have a memorial.“It was my idea to get it up and running.
I felt we need somewhere to commemorate our friends and for former Argylls to sit and reflect on the guys, and their families to have somewhere to go too.”The headstone was donated by Garner Memorials after Paddy approached them to try and buy one.
