A memorial is to be held for missing Scots RAF gunner Corrie McKeague at his former base today, his family has said. Corrie McKeague, 23, sparked an intensive manhunt after going missing on September 24 2016 while on a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
The airman from Dunfermline, Fife, had been stationed at RAF Honington when he went missing in the early hours. An inquest earlier this year found that the young Scot died after being crushed by a bin lorry after climbing into a bin owned by the waste management company Biffa.
Jurors concluded that Corrie died as a result of "compression asphyxia' at around 4.20 am on the night of his disappearance.
Corrie's memorial is due to be held on August 6 at RAF Honington at around 11 am. Mum Nicola Urquhart has asked anyone planning to attend to wear bright colours.
