Melinda Messenger has broken her silence to release a statement on Instagram in which she "set the record straight" about her split from fiancé Dr Raj Joshi.

It was reported on Tuesday, 27 February, that the 53 year old, who formerly presented popular nineties show, Fort Boyard, had split from her survival expert fiancé Dr Raj Joshi, just six months after becoming engaged.Two days later, Melinda took to Instagram to confirm the split - for which she did not give a reason, as she said it's "disheartening to see my life being inaccurately portrayed".

Her full statement read: "A recent separation of mine has been shared with the newspapers by an anonymous source. "While I initially considered ignoring it, the false information is rapidly spreading, and it's disheartening to see my life being inaccurately portrayed.

I feel my hand has been forced so it's imperative to set the record straight. "It's important to clarify that my decision to end the relationship was not influenced but the peculiar claims made by the unnamed source, claims that those who know me would find unrecognisable. "Rather, there were entirely different reasons behind my choice".
