Meghan Markle could be returning to the small screen later this year, with NBCUniversal having reportedly greenlit the development of a new Suits spin-off, Suits: Los Angeles.
Meghan shot to fame as Rachel Zane in the original series, which ran from 2011 to 2019, and show bosses are hopeful that she will return, in a new role, for the upcoming spin-off.
Although contract talks are still taking place, a number of episodes are said to have already been written by Suits creator Aaron Korsh, who has penned a character almost "tailor-made" for the Duchess of Sussex, with one source describing it as a "dream role." A senior production source has told the Express that contract talks between NBCUniversal and WME are continuing, as they said: "This is shaping up to be one of the biggest TV deals of the year. "Meghan is in a commanding position. They want to expand a successful franchise in which she has a ready-made fan base of millions worldwide. They want her back and they are prepared to pay what it takes to get her." It's also been reported that should she return for the spin-off, Meghan could be given the opportunity to not just star in, but also direct an episode of the legal drama.
OK! have contacted representatives for Meghan Markle. It's believed that Meghan could negotiate a fee between £235,000-£314,000 per episode if she returns to Suits, but PR expert Ryan McCormick has warned the Duchess of Sussex against "getting greedy." Speaking to The Mirror, he suggested returning to the show could still be a smart career move.
