He then underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, serving temporarily with his brother Prince William, and he completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–08, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence there. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012–13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.

Meghan Markle made surprise return to the UK but only stayed for three hours - as new details revealed

Contrary to swirling rumours, Meghan Markle has indeed graced British soil within the last two years.The Duchess of Sussex made a hush-hush return to the UK with a surprise meeting with Prince Harry in London this May, insiders have disclosed.

It's said Meghan touched down at Heathrow Airport on Thursday, May 9, after jetting in from Los Angeles. "Meghan flew in from Los Angeles to meet Harry at Heathrow in May which ended her absence from the UK," a source told The Express. "Although it was just a short visit while she waited for Harry to join her for their flight to Nigeria, she still spent a good few hours in the VIP suite chatting with staff." Meghan's last significant stint in the UK was in September 2022, which included attending the late Queen's funeral on September 19, 2022.The Sussexes also popped over to the UK in June 2022 for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, bringing along their youngsters, now aged five and three.

Since then, like their mother, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet haven't set foot on UK territory. There's also been increased chatter that Meghan's lack of popularity, coupled with the ongoing struggle to reinstate their taxpayer-funded security, could be the reason behind Meghan's absence in England.The last time Harry saw his father, King Charles was in February, shortly after he announced his cancer diagnosis.

It was reported that the Duke of Sussex met with his father for under an hour. When Prince Harry came to the UK in May to mark a decade of the Invictus Games, it was reported that his father had no time to see his son due to a 'full programme'.
