Meghan Markle gives talk at Oprah Winfrey's book club as 'hometown hero' Prince Harry's memoir Spare is displayed

Meghan Markle stepped out to give a talk at the grand opening of Godmothers bookstore in California on Saturday night as part of one of her close friend Oprah Winfrey's book club sessions.The Duchess of Sussex donned a black collared jumpsuit as she spoke to the crowd at the event, which fell on the eve before the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

While Meghan spoke, her children's book The Bench and Prince Harry's controversial memoir Spare were on display in the 'Hometown heroes' section of the store - an area which celebrates authors local to the area.Talking in a clip for the store's Instagram page, the owner says: "So this is our local authors section when you first walk in, and I want it to be when you first walk in so that authors who are local to the area know that this is heir hometown bookstore.

And we celebrate our hometown authors as if they were out hometown heroes because to us they are." A number of influencers and authors were invited to the launch, which Oprah was also seen speaking at.

Author Laura Lynne Jackson shared a snap of Meghan to her Instagram Stories, captioning: "Most light filled evening of speakers".
