Meghan Markle had a birthday to remember over the weekend as she turned 43, and it's believed Prince Harry pulled out all the stops with a touching gift for his wife. The Duke of Sussex is quite the romantic when it comes to presents, having previously melted hearts by gifting Meghan a charming silver photo frame featuring a cute picture of their son Archie.

However, one of Harry's sweet gestures in the past reportedly stirred up a bit of drama in royal circles, leading to an "uncomfortable" conversation between Meghan and Buckingham Palace staff.

During the early days of their romance, Harry decided to express his love with a bespoke piece of bling. Harry is said to have gifted Meghan a chic 14-carat gold chain from Maya Brenner, complete with adorable 'M' and 'H' initials, which was revealed to cost around $300, reports the Daily Record.

Meghan proudly wore the necklace in public, but this reportedly didn't sit well with some at Buckingham Palace. In the tell-all book Finding Freedom, writers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand recount how a palace aide phoned Meghan, advising her to ditch the necklace to avoid fuelling the media storm. They wrote: "She was advised that wearing such a necklace only served to encourage the photographers to keep pursuing such images - and new headlines".
