Midway through Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Some Sexy Songs 4 U, a soft but impactful voice takes over. It comes from Pimmie, a Houston-based songwriter who has won the Drizzy lottery. “Please, don't go out with your friends,” she pleads on “Pimmie’s Dilemma” alongside a carefully picked acoustic guitar. “They don't ever keep you in check/ They gon' let you do whatever/ And blame it on the liquor.” It’s a song about trust in relationships and being able to feel comfortable when your significant other hasn’t text back in a few hours.
It is also something of a rarity on a Drake project, a song that gives the women in his life a voice and agency. Outside of being the rapper’s strategic first move post his Kendrick Lamar beef — $ome $exy $ongs 4 U showcases another skill Drake never lost: his ability to pluck a relative unknown and put them firmly in the spotlight (see previous entrants like Giveon and Yebba).
Prior to her appearance on $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, Pimmie had only released a handful of music and has never given an interview.
As such, there isn’t much information about her online — but her short interlude has already left the internet buzzing about the potential star..
