Gabrielle Union.Matthew Lawrence is getting candid about an on set misunderstanding during his and Union’s 1999 made for TV movie “H-E Double Hockey Sticks.”The Wonderful World of Disney movie followed a young devil, played by Lawrence’s “Boy Meets World” co-star, Will Friedle, who is sent to Earth to take the soul of young hockey player Dave (Lawrence).“There was this one moment where — and, again, I’m oblivious, I had no idea — and she wanted to rehearse,” the actor, 45, said on Friedle and Sabrina Bryan’s “Magical Rewind” podcast on Monday. “And I was like, ‘No, I’m good.'”But the 52-year-old wasn’t happy by Lawrence’s remarks at the time. “And she got angry and went and reported me to the director and the studio,” the ’90s star confessed. “The only time in my entire career, because usually I’m, like, the advocate, and I’m fighting for kids and, like, you know, women’s rights.

This is the only time in my life when I was called into the office for something I did on set. And I had no clue,” Lawrence added.Friedle, 48, and Bryan, 40, laughed at the tale, and Lawrence chimed in that he declined rehearsing for one reason only.“At that point, in my mind — now I can do whatever, and nothing’s gonna faze me — [but] at that point in my mind, I really loved memorizing the lines, knowing all the beats,” he said, “but hated running it, cause it felt like it took all the freshness out of it.”Lawrence also thought production would allow multiple takes of the scene.

Although the big bosses understood when he got called into the office, the “Brotherly Love” star noted that he was “embarrassed.”He noted that people on set knew that Union was headed for stardom.
