The PFA Scotland Premiership Player of the Year nominations have been announced with Matt O'Riley up against Rangers rivals Jack Butland and James Tavernier and Hearts marksman Lawrence Shankland.
Celtic star O'Riley has been the early favourite among many punters to sweep home at awards season after a stunning campaign under Brendan Rodgers.
He's rampaged into double figures in both goals and assists having stepped up to the plate as a pivotal player for the defending Premiership champions - who currently lead the division.James Tavernier was always going to make the shortlist too having taken his goalscoring exploits up a level for Rangers this term.
He has 17 league goals and has continued to be a key man under Philippe Clement as has goalkeeper Jack Butland who is up against his Ibrox teammate after scooping the double at the club's own awards night on Sunday.Hearts' Lawrence Shankland is the only player to have scored more than Tavernier in the Premiership this season and it's no surprise to see the Scotland hitman also on the shortlist.
