Mary Wilson, singer with The Supremes, dies aged 76

Mary Wilson, who co-founded The Supremes, has died at the age of 76. The singer's death was announced by her publicist Jay Schwartz.

Wilson died in Las Vegas but the cause of death has not yet been confirmed. The Supremes' success in the 1960s rivalled the Beatles in America, where they landed a string of Number 1s including Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love, and Stop!

In The Name Of Love. In the UK, the group landed 30 Top 40 hits on the Official Singles Chart, including the chart-topping Baby Love.

Together with Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and Barbara Martin founded The Supremes in 1959 when Wilson was 15 years old. Martin left the group before they became successful, and The Supremes continued as a trio.
