Martine McCutcheon has spoken out about the life-changing moment she became a mum to her son Rafferty, now nine, after being told she would never be able to have children.The 49 year old EastEnders star, who shares Rafferty with her ex-husband Jack McManus, 40, has always been open about her struggles with ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) and her journey to motherhood.
Speaking on The Showercast podcast, Martine recalled the moment she first held Rafferty in her arms, saying: "The thing that topped everything was holding my son for the first time.
I was told I would never be able to have children and I always felt like being a mother would be the making of me." She continued: "I knew I would be able to teach him all the things I wish I'd known.
When I held him there was no love like it, so unconditional. It made me realise that by just being who I was, I was always enough and lovable.
