Money-saving expert Martin Lewis has encouraged customers of BT, Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk to contemplate switching their broadband provider.
He highlighted that due to new tariffs, UK households can now access 150Mb fibre broadband for a mere £14 per month. He pointed out that some customers are currently paying double this amount for half the speed.
The process of switching to "smaller 'alt-nets'" has become significantly easier, thanks to Ofcom's introduction of one-touch switching for the UK this September.
The Money Saving Expert website elaborated: "The playing field is levelling on broadband, making it far easier to switch to the new local 'alt-nets' that set up their own networks rather than relying on BT in the background." It added: "And as many of them undercut big providers, we're trying to add more into our broadband comparison, which now covers 25 firms.
