Martin Lewis is sounding the alarm for 700,000 individuals over State Pension age to act swiftly to secure this year's Winter Fuel Payment.

The money-saving expert has issued a call to action for people nationwide to assist elderly relatives, friends, or neighbours in checking their eligibility for Pension Credit and applying before Saturday's deadline.

For those opting to apply via telephone, the cut-off is Friday, December 20, as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) helplines will be closed over the weekend.

Successful new claims for Pension Credit can also lead to a backdated Winter Fuel Payment of £200 or £300. With Pension Credit offering an additional annual financial support of over £4,000, it also grants access to further assistance with housing costs, Council Tax, heating bills, and free TV licences for those aged over 75.
