Martin Lewis has told all couples that they must do one thing on March 1 - and get themselves a huge tax break. Mr Lewis was speaking about how married couples can take advantage of the assistance if one of them is not working.
Mr Lewis said it basically amounts to a £1,260 tax break for married couples - and he added that it works ‘provided one of you is aged under 90’ - specifically born after the 5th of April 1935.
There are an estimated 2.1 million people not claiming the money - and if they haven’t before they could get £1,260 in one lump sum - backdating it for four years plus this year.
One of the couple must not be a tax payer, therefore he or she can transfer the part of their personal allowance they are not using.
