Anyone who has a Ring doorbell subscription could soon be faced with paying an additional 43% annually - but Martin Lewis says there's a simple way around this.The video doorbell company announced that the price of its Protect Basic Plan would be going up in March this year.
Currently it costs £34.99 annually, but the increase will bring the total up to £49.99.People who pay for their subscription monthly will soon have to pay £4.99 rather than £3.49 per month when the price hike comes into effect on March 11 2024.Manchester Evening News reports that Amazon, which owns Ring, saying the change was being made 'to enhance the plan and give customers more value'.Posting on social media after the announcement, money-saving expert Martin Lewis issued a word of advice to anyone concerned about the price increase.
He suggested cancelling your subscription now and signing up for another year, before the price hike kicks in. He wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Beat the Ring doorbell 43% March price hike."I know many are annoyed, so there's a possible work around (still double-checking but thought I'd get it out).
Cancel now get a pro-rata refund (you may lose saved files tho). Sign up again at the current price which then locks it in for the next year."Several people then responded saying that they had followed these steps, and Martin's tip had worked.
