The Government has today confirmed plans to keep the furlough scheme open to parents - even after it closes to new employees on June 30.
The announcement means staff who return from maternity and paternity leave after July 1 will be able to join the job retentions scheme if their employer is unable to take them back to work.
It's calmed fears that many parents could face redundancy after their statutory leave ends - because firms are unable to afford their wages.
Under the loophole change, employers will be allowed to enrol mums and dads onto the scheme when they return to work after July 1.
