Martha is back! The UK-based band hasn’t released an album since 2019’s Love Keeps Kicking but are returning with a limited 7” that’ll be released on June 24 via Specialist Subject.

The 7” features new song “Please Don’t Take Me Back” and a cover of Allo Darlin’s “My Heart Is A Drummer.” But you won’t have to wait a whole month to check out the new song.

Martha’s previous work sounds like the lovechild of Los Campesinos! and Blink-182, and thankfully, that spirit is kept in the new track, too.

This jangly tune features relatable lyrics about fearing returning to the past — with a winking sense of humor. “Take me back to the old days / Take me back to the glory days we had / Take me back to the old days / No, wait, don’t do that / I was really fucking sad / The old days were bad,” sings Nathan Stephens-Griffin. “The past was absolutely terrible,” the band write. “Don’t get us wrong, the present is also absolutely terrible, but that almost instantly becomes the past anyway, so we can quickly file it under ‘the past.’ The really good news is that the future appears to have been totally cancelled by the loathsome politicians, oligarchs and CEOs hell bent on destroying the planet and all life on it, so we probably won’t have to put up with this garbage for much longer anyway.
