Married at First Sight UK star George Roberts has been arrested but episodes of the E4 show will continue to air on TV, according to reports.
The 40-year-old is facing a police investigation. The Sun newspaper reports The Met Police said: “A 40-year-old man was arrested in Worcestershire on Thursday, September 29, on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour.
He was taken to a police station and bailed pending further enquiries.”Three women who claim to be Roberts’ ex-girlfriends have alleged that they had to make police complaints about him, as they said he was "manipulative" and "abusive".The women, who claim to have dated the father-of-four after he split from his first wife, said they contacted E4 with information about his alleged past behaviour.
All three women claim that their complaints were ignored.A spokesperson from Channel 4, which runs E4, said: "We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake."Any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Channel 4." George married the former Miss Great Britain April Banbury after meeting her for the first time at the altar as part of the popular E4 show.
