Married At First Sight UK 's Matt Murray says he left the reunion show halfway through filming because he felt he was 'losing himself'.
The 32-year-old barber decided to step away from the cameras following a chat with his ex-wife Whitney Hughes. MAFS expert Mel Schilling shared the news with the rest of the show, saying: "Before we go on, Matt will be bowing out of proceedings for the rest of this evening."Whitney will be staying with us but we will be respecting Matt's wishes to take some time away from the group."According to the Mirror, a source has also confirmed that Matt will not be taking part in a Christmas special either.
In an exclusive chat with the Daily Record's sister title, he has confirmed why he walked away from the show. He said: "The night before, at the dinner party there was a lot of alcohol and I got really upset, really upset."I was very emotionally overwhelmed, I couldn't stop crying.
It was a lot. And when I woke up in the morning I was like, 'this environment is toxic for me, I don't want to be in this environment'."He added: "So I spoke to welfare and production and I said: 'Look I would like to come and say my bit with Whitney and then I would like to, respectfully, leave.
