The 50-year-old singer is releasing her memoir “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” very soon and she opened up about the book in a new interview with Vulture.
In the interview, Mariah confirmed that she had a fling with Derek and she revealed the songs that she wrote about him. Mariah wrote in the book that she met Derek at a dinner party near the end of her marriage to Tommy Mottola.
She says that they had some “secret” flirty text exchanges and eventually shared “a clandestine kiss” on the roof of his apartment building.
