Mariah Carey (born March 27, 1969 or 1970) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. Referred to as the "Songbird Supreme" by Guinness World Records, she is noted for her five-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, and signature use of the whistle register.
She rose to fame in 1990 after signing to Columbia Records and releasing her eponymous debut album, which topped the U.S. Billboard 200 for eleven consecutive weeks. Her performance marked the first time the “Vision of Love” singer performed her modern holiday classic at an awards show. Carey, 54, made her way onto the stage by slowly being dropped down by a ski lift.
Dressed in a white knee-length dress, she belted out the tune as her dancers skated around her with fake snow. The singer was joined onstage by her twins — son Moroccan and daughter Monroe, 12, who she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
