Marcus Rashford has backed Anthony Martial to make a significant impact for Manchester United, provided he stays fit. Martial has been sidelined for the bulk of the campaign through hamstring, Achilles and back injuries and he's made just six league starts, but he's taken part in full training for four weeks and has now made successive substitute appearances.
The Frenchman was given around 30 minutes from the bench against Newcastle at St. James' Park at the weekend and he also replaced Jadon Sancho with 20 minutes still to play in the Reds' win against Brentford on Wednesday night. ALSO READ: Man United player ratings as Martinez and Sabitzer good However, speaking in his post-match press conference, Erik ten Hag confirmed Martial is still not 'game-fit' enough to start and Rashford was also asked about him by MUTV, saying: "We know how good of a player he [Martial] is. "I think for me, I'm just happy to see him back training and playing really with the team, that's when he's smiling and happy and when he plays his best football.
So it's good to have him back. Hopefully he stays fit because he'll be massive for us." After commenting on Martial, Rashford discussed his favoured position across the attacking line and he added: "It doesn't change too much for me, I try to run in behind and find spaces and create space for other players on the pitch. "Whether I'm playing on the left, right or down the middle, the end goal is the same, it's to try to get goals and assists.
