Confident defender Marcus Fraser firmly believes his Buddies can get the top-six job done at Ibrox.St Mirren know a win against Rangers tomorrow would guarantee them a top-half finish this season before their final pre-split game against Kilmarnock next weekend.While the odds are stacked against them, with Michael Beale’s men currently unbeaten at home in the Premiership all season having drawn two and won 13 so far, Fraser insists his Buddies will be fully confident travelling to Glasgow.After beating Hearts 2-0 on the road last weekend, the 28-year-old sees no reason why Stephen Robinson’s men can’t come away with the points they need to book a top-six spot and turn their attentions to potential European qualification.
Speaking exclusively to the Paisley Daily Express, Fraser said: “We’ve put ourselves in a great position and we’ve just got to keep looking forward. “Our next game is Rangers, which of course will be tough, especially away from home.“But we’ll be working hard ahead of that game and the manager will have us well-drilled.
The feeling inside our dressing room, especially after beating Hearts away, is why can’t we go there and get a result?“That has to be our mindset.“There’s not many games to go now until the end of the split.
We’ve just got to keep driving forward and stay positive.“We’re looking forward to it and we go into it with real confidence.”While it is a massive ask for St Mirren to dish out Rangers’ first home league defeat of the season, the Paisley side have shown up well against the Old Firm this season so far.As well as a dominant 2-0 win over Celtic in September, the Buddies also nearly beat the Ibrox side in Paisley back in November.Only a late James Tavernier penalty denied Robinson’s side
