New RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose endured a nightmare return to his former club ahead of their Champions League double-header with Celtic as he suffered abuse from irate Borussia Monchengladbach fans before they hammered his club.
Celtic face the Bundesliga side home and away in their next two games in Group F after their 1-1 draw at Shakhtar Donetsk last week.
Leipzig appointed Rose earlier this month and he faced a hostile return to Monchengladbach, whose fans have never forgiven him for quitting the club for Borussia Dortmund last year.
Added to the tension was the fact RB Leipzig are about to appoint Monchengladbach's sports director Max Eberl, who claimed he was retiring with ill health earlier this year, only to announce he would be joining Leipzig.
