Rioters who brought violence and disorder to streets throughout the UK after protests flared are now being humbled as they face the full force of the justice system.
In Greater Manchester a string of people have been hauled before judges in court over disorder that broke out in Manchester city centre, in Bolton and in Newton Heath with dozens put behind bars.
Courts up and down the UK have seen men and women sentenced after pleading guilty to charges including criminal damage, violent disorder, and assaulting an emergency worker.
Others pushed wheelie bins at police officers, set fire to police vehicles, and shouted vile racist and homophobic abuse.
