Both players are out of contract at the end of the season but United have the option to extend their deals until 2022 and have often taken decisions on contract extensions midway through seasons.
However, the MEN understands a decision has not been made on the futures of Cavani, 34 on Sunday, and Mata, who will turn 33 in April.Cavani joined United on a free transfer on deadline day in October and has scored seven times, having ousted Anthony Martial to become United's first-choice striker.
